The
Attention Disorder & Related Disorders Clinic aims
to
service all socioeconomic groups of the Lee County and
surrounding areas' population. It is a non-profit
organization, which hopes to serve the Lee County and
outlying countries which would otherwise be denied.
It is a tragedy to have
serious emotional / behavioral problems and not be able to
receive services. Fees are based on the ability of the
individual's ability to pay as well as and
the individual's commitment to treatment and desire to
improve. Those with adequate income as expected to pay
at the set rate.

insurances are accepted.

The Attention Disorder & Related
Disorders Clinic offers a wide range of services to help
adults, adolescents, children, and families address attention and
related disorders and their 'hitch hikers which piggyback'
on to them..... That is why the clinic is called Attention
Disorder and Related Disorders. When AD/HD is not
diagnosed at an early age, depressive disorder or anxiety
'piggyback' right on the primary disorder of AD/HD
compounding the problem.
Often there are AD/HD
characteristics or symptoms with Bipolar Disorder symptoms
mixed with the AD/HD. This can be extremely problematic
affecting school/job and family life.
A Comprehensive
Diagnostic Evaluation reveals the truth and pinpoints
the etiology (cause). The diagnosis leads to treatment which
enables treatment to resolve problems/symptoms.
Correct diagnosis using
state-of-the-art evaluation is crucial; it is essential.
Most often, only medical
intervention will correct the problem of brain
deregulation/cognitive deregulation however the diagnosis
must be correct. Without accurate diagnosis,
treatment cannot be promised to be successful.
Supportive counseling and psychotherapy facilitate
educational growth and lead to the conflict resolution, and
correction of problems.
When appropriate, referrals to and
consultations with other professionals and agencies are
made.
Crisis intervention addresses immediate help to
those who are experiencing severe
emotional/cognitive/biophysical upsets. The Attention
Disorder & Related Disorders Clinic can and will Baker Act
patients as needed.
The clinic makes in-home visits and
extends the working day to include evening and weekend
appointments.
School consultation and classroom
observations are often appropriate to help develop
continuity between home, school, and the clinic.
Children referred to the
Attention Disorder & Related Disorders Clinic are observed
('blind visit') in their classroom...
When necessary, Dr. Hughes will address
crisis intervention.
By law, she has legal power to
Baker Act an individual who is in harm's way or threatening
to endanger another.
There are homework exercises to help bring
about a better understanding of attention and related
disorders as well as to practice new behaviors.
Homework might include: completing a self-checklist,
reading, viewing a professional video tape, seeing a movie,
social skills practice, training exercises, etc.
Making improvement is based on your
motivation and willingness to learn new ways to cope with
emotional / mental / physical as well as family and
environmental [occupational / school] stressors and
accomplish resolving conflict.
Changing learning
styles or adapting new parenting skills are other important
aspects of support therapy.
Confidentiality is a huge part of
establishing a professional working relationship.
Always it is important to develop self-competency
in order to increase self-confidence. When this occurs, self
esteem is promoted and an individual can now become self-empowering.
You, the patient, have many strengths
which need to be emphasized. Turning negative thoughts
into positive ideas and behaviors is the journeys you take
in 'finding your rainbow'
which promises you a happier and
more fulfilling life.
